Alternative provision and specialist tuition for local authorities
Our Future Tutoring (OFT) provides specialist, part-time provision commissioned by local authorities for young people who have limited access to mainstream education. Each young person receives a tailored programme of up to 15 hours per week combining academic tuition and LifeSkills, designed with the young person, their family and the commissioning local authority.
The OFT provision model
OFT is not a school and does not seek to replace one. It provides focused, high-quality provision that complements a young person's wider education and fits into the wider plan for their education.
- Academic tuition: progress in core subjects and towards recognised qualifications, including Functional Skills and GCSE.
- LifeSkills: independence, wellbeing, communication and everyday real-world capabilities.
- Flexible balance: the mix is shaped around the individual.
Who it suits
Young people aged 5 to 19, and up to 25 with SEND, including those with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, SLCN, SEMH needs, anxiety or emotionally based school avoidance.
What commissioners receive
- Enhanced DBS checked, experienced tutors.
- One-to-one and small group delivery.
- Regular reporting and feedback.
What a commissioner says
A SEND Assessment and Review Service describes OFT as responsive, noting that a tutor is typically found within 24 hours of an email and that reports and feedback arrive weekly.
