Autumn Term 2025 Highlights & Looking Ahead

The Autumn Term has been a meaningful and productive period across Our Future Tutoring (OFT). From learning and re-engagement to LifeSkills, mentoring and administration, this term has been shaped by strong relationships, positive progress and a shared commitment to supporting young people in ways that work for them.

As we close the term, we’d like to reflect on key highlights and share important dates for the year ahead.

Supporting Learning, Confidence and Connection

Across the Learning Department, young people have continued to engage with tutoring that balances academic focus with confidence-building and enrichment. Cinema trips, festive activities and the introduction of new learning resources have helped create positive shared experiences, strengthen peer relationships and support motivation.

Tutors have also benefited from improved tools and platforms, helping sessions remain engaging, flexible and accessible for different learning styles.

Re-Engagement Through Relationships

This term, the Re-Engagement team has focused on supporting young people who have found attendance challenging. By working closely with families, carers, tutors and mentors, the team has taken a relationship-led approach to rebuilding trust and helping young people reconnect with learning at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Individual success stories this term highlight the impact of combining academic support with mentoring and emotional wellbeing, reinforcing OFT’s holistic approach to education.

LifeSkills, Mentoring and Personal Growth

The Autumn Term has also been a vibrant period for Our Future LifeSkills.

Key highlights include:

  • The successful completion of a six-week Youth Justice Programme, supporting young people to develop decision-making, responsibility and future planning skills

  • Strong engagement across mentoring sessions, recognised through enrichment activities such as cinema trips

  • Continued professional development for mentors, with several completing additional training and receiving certificates

A particularly proud moment this term was the achievement of four mentees completing their Open Awards certification, marking an important milestone in personal development and progression.

Christmas Jumper Day success 🎄

This term also saw OFT come together to support Save the Children through Christmas Jumper Day.

As it was our first time taking part, we set a realistic fundraising target of £50 and we were delighted to exceed it, raising £228. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success.

“A big THANK YOU from the Learning Department for rocking those Christmas jumpers and donating to Save the Children Charity.

Your kindness will make a real difference this season. Thank you for bringing joy, laughter and a splash of sparkle to the day!” - Ms Nicholson

Working Together Behind the Scenes

From an operational perspective, we’ve also seen positive improvements this term. More parents and carers are now familiar with OFT’s absence reporting protocol, helping us communicate efficiently with tutors and maintain smooth scheduling for learners.

As the term comes to a close:

  • Tutoring sessions finish on Friday 19 December 2025

  • Sessions resume on Monday 5 January 2026

  • Parents, carers and young people will be invited to share feedback to help shape ongoing improvements

Your feedback plays a vital role in helping us reflect, improve and continue delivering high-quality support. Thank you to our learners, families, partners and staff for a positive Autumn Term. We wish everyone a restful festive break and look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year. 2025/26 TERM DATES
